Success Story
Consumers Credit Union Social Leadership Training
By Donna Adinolfe
Background: When Consumers Credit Union, Kalamazoo, MI, learned that some team members felt uncomfortable using social media, marketing and training collaborated to create a Social Leadership class. The class focuses on Kindness, Immediacy, Brand, Authenticity and how to develop and share great content for your audience.
What they did: Consumers CU worked with each department at the credit union to get a feel for their particular social media challenges. They then created a three-hour leadership class that includes live showcasing of social dos and don’ts.
Results: The class was an instant hit and Consumers CU now has multiple requests to host it more often. Now, when they reach out to team members to help someone with a post that is “uncomfortable,” employees understand why and how the post impacts their members.
Key Lessons Learned:
Social posting guidelines which promote respectful engagement are crucial.
Responses to posts should be timely.
Posts should always be authentic and true.
